Welcome Message from APAS Founding Chairman
The Annual Scientific Meeting to be held in Sabah, Malaysia auspiciously ushers in the tenth year of the Asia-Pacific Arthroplasty Society, which has evolved considerably since its inception. The society remains faithful to its' aim to foster the science and good practice of hip and knee arthroplasty in the Asia-Pacific region. APAS has grown with each year, through the support, enthusiasm and dedication of its' members. We owe no small debt to the steadfast support of our sponsors Depuy/Johnson & Johnson and Smith & Nephew.
We will once again bring to you a strong, iconic international faculty and a scientific program designed to penetrate the mist surrounding controversial subjects, probe in-depth on surgical techniques and cover cutting edge technologies. There will be ample space of contributions from regional speakers, but as always we expect the program to be over subscribed.
Malaysia will be hosting the APAS Annual Scientific Meeting for the second time; the first being in 2003 and we had a warm and stimulating event. The 10th Meeting will be in the capable hands of Professor David Choon, who is well known to many in the region. Many of you may not be familiar with Sabah, but it is assuredly a beautiful venue for the event.
Our Guest of Honour for 2008 will be Professor Ian Learmonth. Ian is well known to all having been a regular visitor to the East and for his work on the ASR and Proxima prostheses. Our Life Time Achievement Award goes to Professor Chitranjan Ranawat. "Chit" does not need an introduction and this award to him is long overdue.
I thus extend a warm welcome to you to join us in Sabah. It is a location to bring your family.

Dr. Wui K. Chung
APAS Founding Chairman
